Movies like I am Number Four need to have teens with mysterious powers moving about unrestrained and aided by plenty of CGI, and despite being a “Vampire Movie,” “The Lost Boys” may just be the “old granddad” of this particular genre. Now, on to more movies like I am number four!

The Darkest Minds (2018) is a science fiction film directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson and based on the young adult novel of the same name. It stars Amandla Stenberg, Harris Dickinson, Wallace Langham, and Mandy Moore. The movie follows a group of children who have developed unique powers after surviving a deadly virus that has wiped out most of the world’s population.

Amandla Stenberg, as sixteen-year-old Ruby Daly, escapes from a government internment camp after developing her superhuman powers. The movie follows her journey to find other children like her and take down the oppressive government that’s hunting them down.

As in other movies like I am Number Four, we have a teen “blessed” with super-powers making her way in the “normal” world in search of others like her. The Darkest Minds may be a bit more serious than I am Number Four, but certainly no less thrilling and engaging.

The Covenant (2006) is a supernatural thriller movie that follows four teenage boys from an elite New England prep school who are descended from the original families who settled Salem.
